Details:

State of Kansas Department of Insurance Building, formerly known as the Topeka Women’s Club, is a 3-story brick-faced building with basement containing approximately 27,507 square feet on a 23,845 square foot parcel.

The property is zoned O&I-2, office and institutional district. The building has been very well-maintained with newer mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems as well as dual-pane windows for energy efficiency (except for beautiful existing stained-glass windows). This building is on the Federal, State and Local Historic Registers as it was built in 1924 and   remains a beautiful statement of the architecture of the Roaring 20’s.

Most recent use was as an office building with drop ceilings and movable partitions and cubicles, much of which remain in the building and the partitions and cubicles will be included in the sale and not sold separately.

This building would be great for office space for companies and institutions with State or local business, but also could be restored to its former legacy as a special event space for weddings, parties, meetings, etc. The main floor was an 800-seat auditorium; the 2nd floor had a dining room for 700 to 800 people; the 3rd floor was a ballroom, and the building includes other meeting and board rooms.

Directions:

From Westbound I-70, take the SW 10th Avenue off ramp and turn left onto SW 10th Avenue.  Continue to Topeka Blvd. and turn right. Turn right onto SW 9th Street and the building will be on your left. From Eastbound I-70, take the W 1st Avenue offramp and continue on West 1st Avenue until Topeka Blvd, and turn right. Continue on Topeka Blvd. and turn left at SW 9th Street and the building will be on your left.
